JUDO for ages 6 - adult

Everyone from kindergarten through adult is invited to learn the Japanese self-defense sport of Judo. Beginner, intermediate and advanced are welcome to come learn basic holds, throws, break falls, safe falls, injury prevention and balance. There are tournament opportunities as students progress.

Class meets on Saturdays:
8:00 - 10:30am 16 years old and up
10:30am – Noon 6 years -15 years old

Summer 2018

Session II: July 14 - August 18

Fall 2018
Session I: September 8 - October 13
Session II: October 20 - December 1

Fee: YMCA members free; Community members 15 & under $25/session, 16 & up $35/session

Summer Karate 2018 - Intermediate and Advanced

Kids 8 years and up along with adults can learn some self-defense, get physically fit and gain confidence by joining in this traditional Japanese Karate class. Wear comfortable clothing or purchase a uniform.

Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm

Youth T-Ball 2018

When: Tuesdays and Wednesdays July 10 - August 1 , 2018
Time: Ages 4-5 years 4:00-5:00pm Ages 6-7 years 5:15-6:15pm

Location: Riverview Park (across from the YMCA on SE 4th Street)

Program Purpose: The opportunity to build fundamental skills, practice teamwork and good sportsmanship, be guaranteed equal playing time and have FUN in a low-competition environment.

Equipment: Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing(shorts, sweat pants, t-shirt) and running shoes. Feel free to bring you own helmet, glove, bat, etc.

Financial Assistance: The YMCA welcomes all who wish to participate. We annually raise scholarship funds to help make that possible. Please fill out Membership Assistance Application or a Youth Program Assistance application if you feel you are unable to pay the fees.

Cancellations: The following steps will be taken to announce the cancellation of a practice or game due to weather:

  • For instant updates straight to your phone or email…. Refer to the Remind.com sheet to get this process started. Please do not call the YMCA front desk.
  • If we have to cancel, we will send out a text/email to inform you. So it’s vital that you sign up for our remind updates.

FREE YOUTH RUNS - Summer 2018

Free! Fun, non-competitive runs for children up to age 12. The length of run varies by age: 4 & under run 200 yards; 5 & 6 year olds mile; 7 – 12 year olds run mile. Participants receive a race number and a finish ribbon. Parental help & involvement is welcome and appreciated.

Held on the following Mondays at 6:00pm:

June 11, July 9 & August 13

Location: Itasca County Family YMCA outdoor track. Please register prior to the run in the Y lobby.

Athlete Training 2018

Athlete Training is designed to teach strength development techiques as well as train key development components of speed, agility and quickness in athletes. Injury prevention and safety is always our #1 concern, but make sure you come ready to work and have fun along the way!
